Aretha Franklin - Rispeck (Featuring Michel Therrien and Brandon Prust ) by @RealDevPlatypus

The first round of the playoffs has come and gone for the Ottawa Senators. In fact, the second round begins tonight. Hockey fans have many memories the Sens' series against the Habs, from Gryba's controversial hit on Lars Eller and Brandon Prust's incredible (note the sarcasm) insults to Anderson's magnificent goaltending and Pageau's hat-trick. But there's one word to remember from this series.

Respek (or respect for everyone not named Michel Therrien).

If you were living under a rock for the entire series, I'll sum it up for you: Michel Therrien was not happy with Paul MacLean's reaction to the hit on Lars Eller, nor was he happy with how the Sens coach referred to Raphael Diaz by his number ("Player 61"). When Therrien would point out MacLean's "lack of respect," he would do so with his heavy French accent, making it even more funny than it already was with him practically in tears. No, I'm not making fun off him for his accent, but for the fact that he overused the word respect/respek to a point that made it all but certain that the Habs coach would form his own Aretha Franklin cover band.

I mean, obviously we'd all want to see that. Maybe even throw in Prusty the Clown for good measure. Since the people wanted it, I decide to create a video for it.

I know the video isn't the highest quality, but it's been well received by those who have watched it and I figured I should share it with my fellow Sens fans. Yes, that series is officially in the past as the new one starts shortly, but think of it as a nostalgia trip. I hope anyone who watches it enjoys it because I did put a fair share of work into it.

Tonight, we gather in front of our TV sets and radios, at a bar or even at the arena to take in the Penguins against the Senators. No matter the outcome, we're guaranteed a fun game tonight. Hopefully the Sens pull away with at least one victory in Pittsburgh before we welcome them home. Regardless of the outcome of tonight, we'll still be proud to call ourselves Sens fans, but hopefully with a little more "respek" than when the night started thanks to another pesky performance.
