Back by popular demand (and a three-year contract with Reebok), the Ottawa Senators have announced a schedule for when the team will don their 20th-anniversary heritage jerseys in the 2013 season.
For the uninitiated, the heritage jersey was a collaboration between graphic designer and fan Jacob Barrette and the Ottawa Senators. According to the always excellent Icethetics, the heritage jersey is unique in that it's the first jersey designed by a fan in NHL history (a concept later adopted by the AHL's Peoria Rivermen). The jersey ended up being a huge hit with fans and many - myself included - are thrilled to see it brought back.
This is especially true after the abomination that was the "SENS" third jerseys that preceded them. If you're so inclined to relive their glory, the NHL online shop still has Alex Kovalev replicas for the low, low price of $174.99!
The Senators will wear their heritage jerseys seven times in the abbreviated 2013 season. The schedule:
- January 29 vs. Washington Capitals
- February 9 vs. Winnipeg Jets
- February 19 vs. New York Islanders
- March 23 vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
- March 30 vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
- April 16 vs. Carolina Hurricanes
- April 22 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
