Three Years Out

Three to Five years from now... A few of us were having a bit of a discussion around who the core of the Senators will be in the coming years, and I think that there's a lot of room to play given our current roster. There are very few players that are on unfavourable contracts, and very few players on long contracts either. The only players that we have currently signed for the 2014-2015 season are Jason Spezza, Chris Neil, Kyle Turris, Zach Smith, Erik Karlsson, Marc Methot and Craig Anderson. It's fair to assume that most of these players will be on the roster when that year comes around, except for Craig Anderson ( given that he has Robin Lehner and Ben Bishop snapping at his heels for NHL playing time)

Now, I imagine that some of these players are not going to be here, and some others not listed will be re-signed when we actually get to the 2014-15 season. Here's how I view the core of our roster:

I don't know who is going to step up for the first line, but I can see Puempel or Noeson jumping in on the second lines, and I see a darkhorse of Derek Grant for one of the bottom line positions. I would prefer to get an established scorer to slot in next to Spezza. Spezza deserves a good friend on the first line.

Karlsson- x
Methot- x

Same thing here- rather than developing a first pairing defenceman, I'd rather acquire one through a trade or free agency.

Any backup will do, Lehner is the man.

How do you see the roster 3 years from now? Who is DEFINITELY going to be on the team?
