Is apparently what you'd expect to hear from Sens players when they need to go to the bathroom at home and can't remember how old they are. That is, if you're listening to Sports Illustrated. According to the sports publication, the Senators are "aging somewhat".
This is what they had to say:
It's nice that Daniel Alfredsson
didn't have his career ended by a fully lost season. His return figures to be a boon for the Sens on and off the ice. These guys were better than people (hand raised) thought they'd be last year, and they gave the Rangers
fits in the playoffs. But this team is aging somewhat, with five players 30 or older. In this league, it gets harder and harder to get by on veteran moxie. If Craig Anderson
can have a big season in net, though, another playoff spot is very possible.

Get by on veteran moxie?? Are they serious with this sh*t?? 3 of those 5 players are 34 or younger and one of them is our starting goalie who at 31 years old is firmly entrenched in the prime of his career. The other two are depth players and characters vets that both had resurgent seasons in 11-12... And the two that are on the other side of 34 are borderline HOFers.
More importantly, what's the flip side of that statement? That 3/4 of our roster is under 30! Yeah, that's definitely the hallmark of an aging, veteran-laden team... *facepalm*
Then there's the all-too-convenient ommission of the 21 year old Norris winner, or the 4th overall in scoring, prime aged 1st line center, or the fact that the vast majority of those younger players are established NHLers and the few that aren't are highly developed prospects.
Yes, I realize it's just Sports Illustrated, but why does every major publication have to cronically and consistently underrate the Sens? It's just frustrating. I know I'm not alone in that frustration. Does anyone else have any of these stupid predictions to share?
And the season still hasn't started!....uggggh. 2 more days till camp starts.
