Cody Ceci nets four assists, 67's still lose 6-4 to Colts

Ottawa Senators prospect Cody Ceci notched four assists but it wasn't enough for the Ottawa 67's, who lost 6-4 to the veteran-laden Barrie Colts on Thursday night. Draft-eligible forward Sean Monahan also had a good night for the 67's, netting two goals and an assist.

Leading the way for the Colts was Winnipeg Jets prospect Mark Scheifele, who had four points on the night (1G, 3A) and Boston Bruins draft pick Anthony Camara, who scored a hat trick. (Through one game, Camara is one-third of the way to matching his goal total from last season.) Colts goaltender Mathias Neiderberger (undrafted) stopped 33 of 37 shots he faced.

Ceci played most of the night alongside third-year undrafted defenceman Michael Cajkovsky, who had apparently sought a KHL deal but was bumped out of that league due to an influx of NHL talent signing over there. I didn't watch the whole game so I can't speak to his overall effort, but four assists probably weren't a fluke--and I can tell you that the fourth assist definitely wasn't: With the team down 4-3 late in the third, Ceci broke into the Colts' end, split two oncoming defenders, and passed the puck to a wide-open Remy Giftopolis. (Yes, his name is really Giftopolis, and yes, the pass from Ceci was basically a gift.)
