I will make this short and sweet since I decided to write this at 1:30AM and I am realizing I don't have the energy to put too much effort into it.
I really hope I don't hear any chants for Silfverberg next season. Don't get me wrong, I have a man crush on the guy and have tremendous expectations (probably unreasonably so) for what he is going to bring to our team but how can we just begin to serenade this kid out of the shoot?
Right now we have the best captain in the NHL and due to his many years of service we boisterously let him know how we feel - he has earned every decibel we provide when we chant his name. He is also the only player who gets this special treatment.
We have a budding superstar in Erik Karlsson but we have nothing to offer other than gasps of astonishment as he blazes down the ice.
We have at top 4 scorer in the NHL who is one of the most creative and exciting players we have ever had yet unless he is getting booed there isn't anything the masses offer up in unison for Jason Spezza.
For the sake of our captain and the current players who have done so much yet don't get the chanting treatment let's hold off on giving Silfverberg anything than our applause. We set the standard high and others are more deserving of some special attention before he gets it.
That said, Silfver Surfer for the Calder!!!
