This time around, I've decided to write about next year's team. I've been following the off-season and trying to analyze if the Sens are making good moves.
First lets look at last years roster (2011-2012):
1st line: Silfverberg - Spezza - Michalek
2nd line: Foligno - Turris - Alfredsson
3rd line: Greening - Smith - Neil
4th line: Daugavins - Konopka - Condra
Spares: Job, Butler, Winchester, Klinkhammer,Regin
1st pairing: Kuba - Karlsson
Erik Karlsson winnig the Norris trophy

2nd pairing: Cowen - Gonchar
3rd pairing: Phillips - Gilroy
Spares: Carkner
#1 G: Anderson
#2 G: Bishop
Now let's look at what Brian Murray decided to do:
In: -Methot (Trade), Lundin, Latendresse, Jessiman
Out: Foligno (trade), Carkner, Konopka, Kuba, Winchester
Let's take a look at each addition and see who they would be replacing or what hole they are filling.
Marc Methot #3 Ottawa Senators Defenseman
| NUMBER: | 3 | BIRTHDATE: | June 21, 1985 (AGE 27) |
| HEIGHT: | 6' 3" | BIRTHPLACE: | Ottawa, ON, Canada |
| WEIGHT: | 227 | DRAFTED: | CBJ / 2003 NHL Entry Draft |
| SHOOTS: | Left | ROUND: | 6th (168th overall) |
He's probably going to get a chance in the top 4 either with Karlsson or Gonchar, because the team needs defensive stability. He seems to e replacing Kuba, however with a little less offensive upside and a lot more defensive prowess.
Mike Lundin #2
Ottawa Senators Defenseman
| NUMBER: | 2 | BIRTHDATE: | September 24, 1984 (AGE 27) |
| HEIGHT: | 6' 2" | BIRTHPLACE: | Burnsville, MN, United States |
| WEIGHT: | 191 | DRAFTED: | TBL / 2004 NHL Entry Draft |
| SHOOTS: | Left | ROUND: |
4th (102nd overall) |
Mike seems to be a steady but unspectacular defenseman who will be able to help the Sens' bottom pairing with some good defensive coverage. He seems to be replacing Carkner but in a more two-way defenseman oriented way and less of a pugilist.
Guillaume Latendresse #73
Ottawa Senators Left Wing
| NUMBER: | 73 | BIRTHDATE: | May 24, 1987 (AGE 25) |
| HEIGHT: | 6' 2" | BIRTHPLACE: | Ste-Catherine, QC, Canada |
| WEIGHT: | 230 | DRAFTED: | MTL / 2005 NHL Entry Draft |
| SHOOTS: | Left | ROUND: | 2nd (45th overall) |
Guillaume, where to start, he's a big man with a good shot and lots of skill in front of the net. He will most certainly be replacing Foligno for a third of the cost and will score more goals (while maybe not as many assists). He will be the top-6 guy that Murray was looking for, he will be the Montreal Killer (at least I hope so!) and he will overcome his injury woes with the Sens.
Hugh Jessiman (HU-JE ssiman) Thats all there is to say!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After all, this leaves Ottawa with one top-6 spot (probably Silfverberg's) and bottom pairing space which will be filled by the bingo boys.
Any way, thats all there is for today, I hope you enjoyed the read!
Here are some others websites who had some good off-season reviews
