Shea Weber accepted an offer sheet from the Flyers. A 14 years deal worth more than 100 millions dollars. The Preds have a week to match or not the offer and they also have the alternative to complete a trade with Philly.
Basically, in one summer, the Preds are losing their first defensive pair that was arguably the best in the NHL.
It's no secret that Weber was really surprised and upset that Suter left but it's still suprising to see that he's willing to leave just weeks after.
Apparently, Poile has been working on a trade (that didn't work out) for a long time and Holmgren got tired so he extended an offer sheet to Weber. That means Poile lied to the fans when he said that signing Weber was his priority after Suter left.
Not a good time to be a Preds fans... On a positive note however, Nashville have two sensational prospects coming up in Ryan Ellis and Jonathon Blum that should help smother the huge gap left by the depature of Suter and eventually Weber.
