Swedish Kid Line?

Anyone up for a Swedish Kid Line - Silfverberg - Zibanejad - Petersson?

Could we try a third scoring line? No question their defensive acumen is ready to be tested. Two out of three are apparently quite adept already and the third is improving. The line also has speed to burn, reasonable size when combined and all have fine shooting ability.

Concerned with Silfverberg adjusting to the North American game? Wouldn't the third line be a good spot to adjust from? Let on-ice success be the measure for moving up to a top six position. Every indication is that he's going to be a very good player. If he's too good for the third line - we could have worse problems.

I liked what I saw of Zibanejad and I believe he'll emerge into his potential. Djurgarden's horrible season wasn't his fault - coaching changes, rookie status, a bout of mono, a concussion... not a great development year. Less defensive coverage should help him find his offensive arsenal that much sooner. He's only 19, there's plenty of time to develop and there's less pressure/expectations from the third line.

Petersson - his speed/skill should compensate for his lack of size. He was -7 on a very bad Binghamton team yet led them in scoring with 23 goals in only 60 games. I believe he's improving his game without the puck and Pierre Dorion's comments seem to suggest he likes his game. Now usually the third line wouldn't be a perfect fit for his skill, but maybe this combination of players could change that. He could work on his defensive game with two other players that are capable of compensating for any lapses that would get him busted to the fourth line, bench or AHL.

All three are being looked at to bring offense to the team. Putting them all together might be just the thing to bring some added chemistry into play. And let's face it - if Alfredsson doesn't come back we'll need some sort of Swedish injection. If only his name were Zibfverbsson!

I realize I didn't give any solutions for the glut of bottom six forwards we have but I think a fairly big trade will be occurring to help secure a potential top four defenseman, or at least a couple smaller ones to get some defensive help/depth.

Another plus this scenerio gives us is that Regin and Foligno get more time to prove what they are - top six or top nine. Remember, before Turris was picked up Regin's numbers (except age) were virtually identical to his and Regin showed another level of compete in the play-offs that everyone was looking for. It would be nice to give Regin another chance and maybe have another asset to work with.
