Hi Guys. This is my first day on this board and this is my first post. I'm a big Senators fan and have been for over a dozen years. Anyhow to my point. The Senators, to my eyes, need some help at the back. Most notably Matt Gilroy has failed, until now at least, to live up to expectations. To me that's a big understatement -- my stomach churns every time he's on the ice and especially when he's touching the puck. Carkner is not much better and has virtually no upside or potential to be better. So what I am asking is do you think that someone like Rob Klinkhammer could be successfully converted to play defence. He's got size, is not afraid to bang, actually wins battles in the corners and seems comfortable on the ice and has some scoring potential. From his stats I've noticed that he has been dangerous on the PP at times in his career.
I know we're at, like, something of an important time in the season to be experimenting like this but this team has been a work in progress all season long. I know that a player as famous as Larry Robinson was converted from forward to defence so my question to you is this -- do you think Klinkhammer would be better at the back than Gilroy/Carkner?
