Silver Nuggets: The Senate Reform Curse
The Ottawa Senators are poised to welcome Brian Elliott and Mike Fisher back to Ottawa this week, but maybe they should be careful about being too welcoming to their former teammates.
In games against players who were dealt away during the 2010-11 Senate Reform fire sale so far this season, the Ottawa Senators have a 1-3-0 record, with the lone win being a shootout victory against the Montreal Canadiens. Chris Campoli has played one game against the Sens this year, and has one assist. Chris Kelly has played three games against Ottawa, and has two goals and an assist. It's obviously a curse.
How will Elliott's St. Louis Blues (assuming Elliott gets the start) and Fisher's Nashville Predators fare against the Senators this week? Time will tell. If you subscribe to the supernatural, though, maybe you can already see the future--and it won't be good for the Sens.

They're on the cusp of good for me
I like that they chose not to be like every other team and use black, blue, or red. But the hue of yellow they chose doesn’t quite work for me.

I hate everything about them.
The shade of yellow. The fact that yellow has nothing to do with the logo. The way they look like they’re trying to be Team Sweden somehow. Awful.
Oh Captain, my Captain!
I have a good feeling
About the Blues game, yes even if Auld does start. This slump has been terrible for the Sens but they haven’t played absolutely horrible through the entire stretch. All they need are a few lucky bounces and they’ll get their confidence back. Too much freaking out won’t help this team, worst part is Murray freaking out and trying to make a splash on the deadline to get us into the playoffs
My Jason Spezza Obsession is Perfectly Healthy!
I dunno
Besides the Bruins game, I can’t really say we’ve played all that well. We’ve always been a team that plays well in spurts, but since the Flyers back to back games, we have been outplayed substantially IMO.
We haven’t been scoring as much hence our weaknesses are more glaring.

Not entire games
But there were times where we’d start well and then give up but there have been sparks of good stretches. I don’t mind being outplayed as long as the team finds a way to fight through it

I agree
I think as long as our defensive game improves, we’ll be okay. Some of the chances we’ve given up during this slump have been waaaaaaay too good. Even lucky bounces won’t help us if we can’ t be better in our zone.

Anthony Stewart of Carolina.
What do you guys think of claiming him on waivers. Carolina put him on waivers today. 6’3" 230lbs. , seems to be pretty sound at +4 brings actual toughness.
I would put a claim for him.
Just my opinion!
GO SENS GO GO TEXANS GO
We could do both.
We have the cap space.
Maybe BM should go out on a limb and get as many guys that have potential and see who fits.
Oh wait roster spots…my bad!
GO SENS GO GO TEXANS GO
Where does he fit?
Who would come out?

Forget Stewart
I saw Anthony Stewart a few years ago at a Sens / Panthers prospect game and I said "The way this guy lolls around on the ice, he will never make it in a million years. "
Size does not guarantee anything, so forget it with Stewart.
Zack Hamill? On waivers from Boston today
I would bring him to play for Bingo!
Also, I feel like there are some trades a brewin’!! I find it peculiar that these mid level players are being put on waivers so close to the trade deadline. The teams are probably clearing up a roster space in order to make room for another body that’s coming back in a future trade. Just speculation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these teams make trades in the next few days.
on the topic of curses, I must confess
awhile ago, (last year under coach C.C.) when the sens were struggling I had put away my"lucky" sens hat. a sens hat that I bought during the 06/07 season I might add. but, I put away my beloved friend because I was getting disheartened by the effort of my team. coincidentally, shortly after they started winning. mind you it was around the time GM. B.M. acquired anderson. anyway, I must confess… that recently I had the urge to dig out the ol’ relic. unfortunately it coincided with the last win of january… I am now reaching out to you guys and asking "Do I burn the apparent “bad luck” charm? or try my luck with going against superstition and keep it around?

I'm *shocked* that Garrioch even wrote an article about Elliott
During the ASG it seemed like there was an official ban on mentioning him at all.
