I'm teaching a statistics course in a few weeks and wanted to keep things simple. We're covering basic stats - ANOVA, Chi-square, t-tests and descriptive statistics like mean, median and mode. I find people get too distracted if the subject matter is too dense (patient or survey data etc), so I like to teach those concepts using NHL player statistics. Which team has the highest average number of assists per player? Are there outliers? Is there a significant difference between the East and West on GAA? How about absolute numbers of goals scored? And stuff like that.
I'm trying to find a database of all NHL players who played in the 2010-2011 season. Does anyone know where I could find that? Bonus points if it's already an Excel file.
Thanks guys. I've tried CapGeek, but no dice.
