I'm really emotional about this one.
It was not Brian Lee goddam fault if we choose him over Anze Kopitar back in 2005.
The organisation has never seem to ''forgive'' Lee for that and as far as I can remember, acted like jerk with him.
Under Clouston, he was the unloved and under Maclean, he was still the unloved. one game in, one game out, one game in, one game out, yes he was not a stand out defenseman but he was never the worst. It was just easy to scratch him because you know... That was just Brian Lee. He was not going to say anything anyway.
The guy was playing the best hockey of his career lately. He was getting confident, was starting to get physical, to put up points AND the team was 13-0-1 with him in the line up. What it would have f**** cost us to give him a true chance, which I think he never got through 5 seasons in Ottawa.
Don't forget that he was only 24 years old and that a defenseman is really at his best in the late 20's so there was still time for Lee.
I think that a 1st round pick is unevaluable in today hockey and I think Bryan Murray knows that too.
That's why I'm having a really hard time to understand why we just traded a 24 years old, 9th overall pick for a 27 years old undrafted f***** rental.
