The Ottawa 67's nearly blew a two-goal lead to the Niagara IceDogs, but managed to weather the storm and score late in the third period to win their second game of the season.

Although the Ottawa 67's haven't started the season as well as they'd have liked, a strong start on Thursday night against the Niagara IceDogs went a long way in getting Ottawa their second win of the season.

Goaltender Keegan Wilson, who was back to full health after a few games away from starting duty, was important to the win, as well. Wilson stopped 35 of 38 shots faced, including 31 saves in the first 40 minutes.

The game-winner came with just under three minutes left, when IceDogs goaltender Christopher Festarini couldn't control the rebound from a Cody Ceci shot, and Jake Cardwell was on the lip of the crease to put the puck home. It was Cardwell's second goal of the game. The 67's other goals were scored by Steven Janes, who opened the scoring five minutes into the first, and Tyler Graovac, who also had an assist.

Ceci had two assists in the game. He's now got 9P (2G, 7A) in just seven games played this season. Co-captain Sean Monahan also had two assists in the game.

Dougie Hamilton and Ryan Strome, two notable prospects on the IceDogs roster, each had one assist in the game.

The 67's remain at the bottom of the league standings, but have a game or two in hand on their cellar competitors. They'll play Friday night against the Mississauga Steelheads, and return to Ottawa on Sunday afternoon to play against the Kitchener Rangers.

Editor's note: This story has been modified from its original version. The original had mis-stated Cody Ceci's point totals for the season to date. Silver Seven regrets the error.
