The Noon Number: 36
36 - Number of wins goaltender Craig Anderson has in 65 games with the Ottawa Senators, which ranks him seventh all-time among goaltenders with the Ottawa Senators.
Ahead of Anderson are Patrick Lalime (146 wins), Ron Tugnutt (72), Ray Emery (71), Damian Rhodes (65), Brian Elliott (59), and Martin Gerber (49). If Anderson can maintain his level of play throughout the duration of his current contract with the Senators, he could very well take over the all-time lead in wins with the franchise.
There are two goaltenders who've played more games with the Senators than Anderson, but have fewer wins: Both Don Beaupre (71GP, 14W) and Craig Billington (72GP, 11W) had some tough times in Ottawa. In 64 career games for the Senators (one fewer than Anderson has, as of this morning), original franchise goaltender Peter Sidorkiewicz had just eight wins.
Current Sens backup Alex Auld has 17 career wins during two stints with the team, good enough for 11th all-time for the franchise.

It's going to be tough to come up with one for every day, though

146
At first seemed really low to me, given the number of seasons he was in Ottawa and the number of games he played, but that’s about 52% win rate; not bad. Two good years, two bad years.
May I suggest adding in the GPs for each goaltender?

That would have been a good addition
I’m not going to revise the published story, but if you’re interested, check out this report.

How much will Anderson actually play in the last two years of his contract though?
I would think it stands to reason that Lehner will play a backup role next season, perhaps seeing as many as 20 – 35 games. In 2013/2014 assuming Lehner’s development is going well, I would think you would see them split 50/50. Then in the final year of his contract I would think Lehner would get the bulk of the work.
Therefore, assuming Craig plays 25 games of the 30 remaining this season, 60 next season, 40 the season after and 20 in the final year of his deal that would give him an additional 80 wins, based on his current win percentage of .554. That would leave him with a total of 116 wins and 2nd on the all time Sens list.
Craig would have to play 60 games per year throughout his contract in addition to another 25 games this season to get to 146 wins based on his current win%. I think it is a bit of a stretch to see Craig play that many games, especially considering injuries. I think Patrick’s record is safe for the time being. Hopefully Lehner turns out to be everything we hope and he’ll be the one to take the crown from Lalime.
Common sense is the most evenly distributed quality in all the world.
Everyone thinks they have enough.
20 in his final season?
Doubt it. He’ll be 34 at that point, and I doubt the Senators signed the contract they signed with the intention of having him play just 20 games in a season. More likely, if all goes right and he’s still with the team (i.e. not bought out, traded, demoted, or otherwise dumped), he’ll be splitting duties with Lehner—or some other goaltender the team’s brought in.
You’re right he might not hit Lalime’s number; he’d actually probably have to start playing better in order to do so. But I’m assuming the team will improve as their prospects come in and get more comfortable in the league (always a dangerous thing to do).
