The Noon Number: 14.2
14.2 - Average number of penalty minutes assessed against the Ottawa Senators per game (PIM/GP), which is tied with the Vancouver Canucks for third-highest in the league. (Only the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins are assessed more penalty minutes per game than Ottawa.)
Included in Ottawa's numbers are 220 minor penalties (second-highest in the league), which are likely the most penalizing since the team is short-handed for most of these two-minute minors. The Sens also have 35 majors (mostly off-setting fighting calls), seven ten-minute misconducts (tied for sixth most in the league), and two game misconducts (tied for fifth highest league-wide).
The Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa's opponent for tonight's game, have the league's lowest PIM/GP number, with just 7.8 penalty minutes per game.
Ottawa's leading penalty-minute man is Zenon Konopka with 152 PIM, almost five times as much as the Coyotes' leading rule-breaker, Raffi Torres, who has just 33 penalty minutes. The Coyotes have been in ten fights this season; Konopka has been in 15 all on his own.

Alternate headline
Zenon Konopka’s moustache throws a vicious haymaker at Aaron Asham while the rest of his face looks on mortified.

I just looked at the headline picture after reading your alternate headline and laughed for a good minute and a half...
Which I think warrants being Rec’d!
Ha! Konopka's been in 50% more fights than the whole Coyotes team?
That’s just hilarious. The Bruins think they can goon it up? WE’LL SHOW THEM

Sigh
The Coyotes have been in ten fights this season; Konopka has been in 15 all on his own.
I love soft players (especially Europeans) that play on the perimeter. Enigmas are awesome. Grit and heart-and-soul are red flags.
Erik Karlsson is better than your favourite player.

Those minors
need to come down.
We also need to draw more penalties too; we have had too many games where the Sens didn’t really force the team in a bad spot to draw a whistle.

It's the minors that really concern me
I mean… most of the fighting majors are meaningless, but at least they’re off-setting so it’s not much lost. With the minors, we’re stuck on defence for a good portion of every game.

That Philly game
was the worst.
4 or 5 minors in the 3rd period, including the carryover?
Whatever other teams do to draw whistles against us, we should do the same against them. With Spezza, Foligno, Alfredsson, Michalek, Z. Smith, guys with some skill who go to the DANGER ZONE (apologies, sterling archer), you would think we could draw a few, too.

That's too many penalties to win
I’m really surprised how high the number is
