While waiting for the NHL lockout to be resolved, Ottawa Senators centreman Kyle Turris has signed with the Oulun Kärpät of Finland's top pro hockey league, the SM-Liiga.
How much are flights to Finland these days? Because it looks like your best bet to see some of the Ottawa Senators' good young stars is to take a jaunt across the Atlantic to watch SM-Liiga games.
Kyle Turris is the latest Sens player to sign in Europe, joining Oulun Kärpät of the top Finnish hockey league. Oulun officials have said that Turris will make his debut next Friday against Helsinki IFK. Oulun's been busy during the lockout, and Turris will be playing alongside Jussi Jokinen and Jason Demers.
To answer your first question: Turris' first game against Erik Karlsson's Jokerit squad will be on November 20.
The move is good news for Senators fans, since Kyle Turris is still a very young and very skilled player who's, by all reports, worked very hard to be in game shape during the off-season. This deal will at least give him the opportunity to play and continue refining his game.
