Peter Regin has apparently given up on signing with his former Danish league team in Herning, and will instead join SC Langenthal of the Swiss National League B.

Ottawa Senators forward Peter Regin has signed a contract with SC Langenthal of the Swiss National League B (tier two) pro hockey league. He's expected to debut tonight with the team against HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, according to a release on the team's official site.

Regin was signed by SCL because they lost their leading scorer, Canadian Jeff Campbell, due to a concussion. Campbell is a centreman who has played in the past with the AHL and ECHL (as well as Regin's former team, the Herning Blue Fox), but Regin is expected to bring some "NHL flair" (in the words of the Google Translated release linked above) to the team.

SCL won the NLB championship last season, but lost the promotion game and as a result remain in the Swiss B division. They currently sit seventh in NLB standings with a 4-4-2 record.

Regin hasn't played a game since Dec. 20 last season, when he suffered a shoulder injury and missed the rest of the NHL season. Despite rumoured agreements with his former team in Denmark, the Herning Blue Fox, he was unable to satisfy various technical issues to get a deal done and join the team.
