Jean-Gabriel Pageau is a center for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL. He was ranked by NHL Central Scouting at the mid point of the year, but fell off their final rankings. Those rankings come out before the QMJHL playoffs, where Pageau, by some accounts, outplayed Sean Couturier and other stars, putting up 29P (13G, 16A) in 24 games.

So why did he fall so far? For starters, he is just 5'9" and 164lbs, which is far from ideal size for a center. Addisionally, according to Kyle Woodlief of Red Line Report:

"Pageau was mostly an afterthought much of the season because of his size, and still lacks the explosive skating and feistiness necessary for a smaller forward."

Pageu is a project for the Senators. His own coach compares him to Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers, but he has a lot of work to do if he intends to reach that potential.
