Campoli-for-Potulny Rundown
To Ottawa: Ryan Potulny
Position: Centre
Role/Potential: Bottom-6 scoring forward in NHL, top-line AHLer.
Age: 26
Draft: 2003, 87th overall
This season: (AHL) 58 GP, 18 G, 23 A, 41 PTS, even +/-
Career season: (2009-10) 82 GP, 15 G, 17 A, 32 PTS, -21
Career stats: 119 GP, 22 G, 27 A, 49 PTS, -18
Contract: 3 years, $7.6 million
Contract expiry: 2011, UFA
Senators will pay this year: $110,000, barring a demotion to Binghamton.
Notes: Bryan Murray's clear-out sale means more NHL time for Potulny this season. The Senators also receive the Blackhawks' 2nd-round pick in this year's NHL Entry Draft. As the Blackhawks have 3 picks in this summer's 2nd round, they get to choose, 48 hours before the draft, which of these three goes to the Senators. This will therefore be a late 2nd-rounder.
To Chicago: Chris Campoli
Position: Defence
Role/Potential: Offensive 3rd-pairing defenceman
Age: 26 Draft: 2004, 227th overall
This season: 58 GP, 3 G, 11 A, 14 PTS, -3, 73 hits
Career season: (2005-06) 80 GP, 9 G, 25 A, 34 PTS
Career stats: 378 GP, 32 G, 96 A, 128 PTS
Playoff experience: 11 GP, 4 pts. Never made it past the first round. Contract: 3 years, $1.9 million
Contract expiry: 2011, RFA
Blackhawks will pay this year: $305,000
Notes: Campoli was previously acquired by the Senators in 2009 in exchange for the San Jose Sharks' 1st-round draft pick (Mike Comrie and Dean McAmmond were also involved in that deal). Considering how far Campoli has fallen short of expectations in Ottawa, this is an impressive return for Bryan Murray. With Ottawa's bevy of high-end defensive prospects, Campoli would have been expendable as an impending RFA this summer.
If Potulny re-signs with the Blackhawks next year, the Blackhawks also receive Ottawa's 7th-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Condition on the 7th rounder
Depends on whether or not the Sens bring Potulny back next year. If he’s not re-signed, not pick goes out.
