A goodwill gesture?
You see it all the time, the bright eyed youth just called up from the minors after some hard work to play against the team they grew up cheering for. Or the wiley old veteran brought in for experience, after a few games in the box, is injected into the lineup to face off against a former team.
It's stories like this that most media outlets love to play up and it adds a little extra emotion to the games themselves. Will the rookie make a name for himself against a team that he idolized will growing up or will the vet show his old that he still has something left in the tank? Pure hockey gold.
Which brings me to this Saturdays game against Columbus. Do the Senators give Nikita Filatov a chance to stick it to his old team and show them they were a bunch of moron's and that they clearly don't know what they are doing? He had a good showing last weekend and if he plays well Friday in Norfolk I think it would be a nice gesture by the Sens brass to call Niki up and let him have his little measure of revenge, so to speak.
I'm sure he had this game circled on the calendar and it would definitely add a little something extra to what is likely going to be a bit of s snooze fest. I mean it is Columbus. With Peter Jensen getting injured...again, it is a good opprotunity to show a little faith in the kid and give him a little reward for the work he's done will down there.

Up until last night I would have said no
but I think Regins injury opens a spot, so now the possibility exists. More likely though, we will see Konopka back in the lineup on the 4th line, and Da Costa moved up.
I vote yes. I don’t think he should have been sent down to begin with, but if Regin is out, it makes a lot of sense to bring back Filatov and move Smith back to centre.
Greening-Spezza-Michalek is working for now, so I would go with Filatov-Zibanejad-Alfredsson and then Foligno-Smith-Neil.

What do you do with Da Costa in that scenario?

Leave him line four for now, or scratch him. I feel Filatov deserves a game more than Da Costa right now.
I liked Zibanejad’s game last night, Da Costa was invisible I thought. Granted part of it was because of Da Costa’s linemates. And Zibanejad is not going to be scratched before game 9.

Absolutely
Sticking it to his former club would boost Nikita’s confidence exponentially. You gotta give him that shot, especially considering he earned it with his play last weekend.
