First off, I was one of those who, like Adnan, was a little disappointed in the organization for sending him down. Besides seeming unfair and unjustified, it's hardly a vote of confidence in the guy. Anyways, it looks like he took the opportunity to play between Kaspars Daugavins and Corey Locke and ran with it, scoring two goals and making the shot, with 6.7 seconds remaining, that would send the game to OT.
(It looks like his shot trickled through the goalie, but Parrish was on the doorstep ready to jam it in, and on the AHL's game sheet he's the one who got credit for it. Either way, GO TEAM!)
A statement game, but for whom? Either the scratching and demotion looks even worse, given the Russian's obvious talent, (just needs a chance to shine!) ...or else Murray is a genius for putting Filatov in a position to assert himself and build up some confidence, and I love our GM to bits.
So conflicted...
Either way, I can't wait to see the kid back up in Ottawa again soon. And I hereby swear, if he ever scores a hatty up with the Big Sens, I'm damn well buying his jersey.
