Around SBN: Terry Collins, David Wright, And The Mets/Brewers Kerfuffle

Per Jeff Marek and Ian Mendes on Twitter, Senators forward Corey Locke has been returned to Binghamton of the American Hockey League.

In three games this season, Locke had zero goals and one assist. His .33 per game point percentage currently ranks 10th on the Ottawa Senators.

I'm sure he'll be back

This probably means one of Kovalev or Spezza is ready to return, or that the Sens are going to play their extra defenceman at forward next game. But sending him down means some decent savings for Melnyk, and all reports indicate that’s something he’s looking for this season. Once a forward gets dealt, look for Locke to get another bunch of games in Ottawa as the team looks at whether or not he is worth re-signing.

Also, this means he can take part in the AHL All-Star Game. It might not be the game he’d prefer, but it’s still a big deal. A few years back the Sens kept Elliott out of the All-Star Game, and although it was a good thing, I’m sure he would have been alright with playing in it.
