Senators announce 22-player rookie camp roster

Jakub Culek is serious about playing in the Ottawa Senators 2010 rookie tournament. Seriously.

The Ottawa Senators announced their 22-man rookie camp roster today, unveiling a list of two goaltenders, six defencemen, and 14 forwards heading to the rookie tournament in London, Ontario. The Sens' rookie squad will take on other rookie rosters from the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

The full roster (after the jump) includes highly-touted goaltending prospect Robin Lehner (drafted second round, 46 overall, 2009) and defencemen Jared Cowen (drafted first round, nine overall, 2009), and Patrick Wiercioch (drafted second round, 42 overall, 2008). Free agent signees Bobby Butler and David Dziurzynski lead the way on the forwards, along with 2009 QMJHL MVP Mike Hoffman (drafted fifth round, 130 overall, 2009) and the only two 2010 draftees, Jakub Culek (third round, 76 overall) and Mark Stone (sixth round, 178 overall). It will be the fourth rookie camp for forward Kaspars Daugavins (drafted third round, 19 overall, 2006).

Toronto v. Ottawa

I’ll be going to the Toronto v. Ottawa game on the 14th. I’m really looking forward to seeing some of these kids play up close and in person — especially Lehner.

That should be fun! Looks like Lehner should have a bright future with the Sens. Anyways have fun at the game!

That is a shame

I’m hoping they come over next season, then. Are either of them signed to a contract yet? I don’t think so. Maybe next year.

It would be nice to have Rundblad as well.

My thoughts exactly

They must really trust his development in Europe.

I don’t think there was ever an expectation that he’d come over before next year. It would have been nice to get a closer look, but oh well.

Jaren Cowen

Really hope he makes the team. With the lack of defensive defenseman, he could really be huge on the penalty kill!

Don't know if it's online

It is televised locally in Ottawa, so there should be a source for an online stream, but yesterday afternoon’s wasn’t online. Hopefully today’s will be.
