Cheechoo gets tryout with Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars announced today that Jonathan Cheechoo, recently bought out by the Ottawa Senators, will attend the Dallas Stars training camp on a tryout basis. Its surprising to me given the dramatic decline in the former Rocket Richard Award-winner's on-ice performance, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer, harder-working player.

that’s good to hear. honestly, with a salary around the league minimum (if he gets signed) would drastically reduce expectations on him and could give him a chance to find some of his old touch back

Real great for Cheechoo to get another shot in the NHL. He can be a really effective 3rd or 4th liner at the moment. Hopefully he can find his scoring touch and work his way back up to a NHL scoring threat. Best of luck Cheech !

I agree with you there. But the Stars? UGH! But still, would love to see Cheech on a team (god really the Stars??)
