G Mike Brodeur, D Andre Benoit placed on waivers
TSN reports that goaltender Mike Brodeur and defenceman Andre Benoit have been placed on waivers. Unless they're picked up by another NHL squad, expect the two to be assigned to Binghamton.

Seems like the first step to their AHL assignment
Although it might also be doing the guys a favour to see if any other team wants to give them NHL time. Honestly, I’d say Brodeur will start, at most, half the games in the AHL, ideally (with Lehner starting the other half).

They are required to go through waivers before they can hit the AHL
I don’t think the Sens want to lose either player, it’s simply a necessary evil.

exactly
Well, I don’t think they HAVE to play them in the NHL, but I think they’d have to put them on waivers before sending them to the AHL again. So ultimately, the players could just be snatched up again by the Sens.
