I always wondered why we picked Cowen over Paajarvi in the 2009 draft. Even though I can imagine hearing the discussions they must have had about losing Volchenkov... and that Karlsson was not a sure fire thing at the time... and Lee was still a question mark... and Gonchar wasn't even a dream yet.

However, if there is one thing that these scouts know it's the Swedish players, and I'm surprised that we made no attempt to land Paajarvi. I guess they judged that the priority need was for a big puck moving dman, and they rolled the dice that Cowen would be that.

It just seems that we are always one great forward away from being an elite team. We shall see if this team scores enough goals or not to win enough games.
