Eastern Conferemce

2. Washington Capitals 108 PTS
3. Boston Bruins 107 Pts
4. Toronto Maple Leafs 100 Pts
5. Philadelphia Flyers 99 Pts
6. New Jersey Devils 94 Pts
7. Tampa Bay Lightning 94 Pts
8. Montreal Canadians 90 Pts
9. New York Rangers 88 Pts
10. Carolina Hurricanes 86 Pts
11. Buffalo Sabres 82 Pts
12. New York Islanders 79 Pts
13. Atlanta thrashers 75 Pts
14 Ottawa Senators 75 Pts
15 Florida Panthers 56 Pts
Pittsburgh will have the highest scoring team and a rebound year from fleury will push Pit to 1st place.
Washington will have a tougher division to compete with and will slighly regress.
The Boston Bruins struggled to score last year, Forget it! Back to 275 Goals and They will be a steady defensive force.
Led by Dion Phaneuf the Leafs will make a surprise run to the playoffs and they have a great defense led by tough forwards up front. JS Giguere will have a carrear year and Dion Phaneuf will return to norris trophy form. Kessel will score 50 goals if healthy (He scored 30 in an injury riddled season with a horrible powerplay and it is clear he dosent need a number one center to score goals.) Look for the Leafs to go deep into the playoffs.
The flyers are a formidible force with depth in all positions except goalie. They will give toronto a run for their money in the first round. (Dion Phaneuf will assert himself as the new Chris Pronger in this series.)
New Jersey will make the playoffs with or without kovalchuck (Can Brodeur win a round though?)
Tampa Bay is also an improved team with direction. They have skill but still have some question marks though.
The Candians are going to struggle with price in net, but it will be good enough to make the playoffs.
The Rangers have trouble scoring and have a lot of bad contracts, (Lundquvist can win many games on his own though.)
The Carolina Hurricanes will have a better year from Ward and Stall but it won't be enough.
Last year Buffalo was a fluke, if it werent for Miller the Sabres may have had Taylor Hall this year, Miller won't play that well again, Myers will have a sophmore slump and Vanek is due to have a bad year.
The New York Islanders are still very thin in all positions and hard work won't be enough.
The Atlants thrashers are going to struggle like the Islanders.
The Ottawa Senators will struggle for many diffrent reasons, Kovalev and Michalek are coming off Knee Surgery, Fisher will have a slumpy year, Alfie will really take a step back this year, Spezza dosent want to be here, Gonchar will miss games due to injury, Phillips will struggle without Volchenkov (As will the whole defense.) Pascal Leclaire and Brian Elliott will show that they can't play as starters. and Erik Karlsson will bust. Ottawa has one of the worst fanbases in the NHL and should be in the same catagory as the Thrashers or Panthers or Pheonix Coyotes Kansas deserves a team more than Ottawa.
Florida panthers: They stunk last year and gave up all there good players, Nuff said.

So let me get this straight.
You signed up, disguised as a Sens fan, then practically wrote an essay about projected standings, just to “burn” us in a terribly composed run-on-sentence?
This is where I say the poster must have no life….but this is beyond comprehension.
It’s obvious this guy just posted this to rile us Sens fans up. I find even though Ottawa may have some questions that Cory Clouston is the type of coach who gets results. He seems to know how to maximize our assets better then any coach we’ve had here. I think Bryan Murray has definitely given him enough assets to play field a competitive team. I could see us competing for the division and really don’t see Boston, Buffalo, Montreal and Toronto having made moves that would truly put them head and above the Sens talent-wise.
I like this post.
It does a lot for my confidence, grammar-wise. My favourite part is where “Knee Surgery” is capitalized out of the blue, like Surgery’s a Russian on our second line or something.
Chemmy is that you?
j/k
I have yet to meet a Leafs fan with this much faith in their 2010-11 squad.
My favourtie part? That it took three tries to finally get the Thrashers their auto-tag. Maybe the Canadiens could have gotten theirs if the author had worked in something at the bottom about how Ottawa fans burn too many cop cars to deserve a team.
Listen dude, I’m all for embracing dissenting opinions, and I believe the term trolling is bandied about these internets entirely too much, so let me simply thank you for providing a different take than most, and treat you like a real person.
I can respect your justifications for why you think the Sens will regress this year, but are you so disillusioned that you think they will fall short of the Thrashers? Really? The Atlanta Thrashers? I just wanted to make sure you didn’t mean Mytishchi Atlant.
It’s just that, while you detail the reasons why the Senators will take a step back, you provide no such reasoning for why the Isles and Thrash would improve to better-than-Ottawa status. Perhaps you could elaborate on your methodology.
As for the Leafs, I think we all would like to see Kessel score 50, if only to piss off Bruins fans. And I totally agree that their defense corps is scary good. But how do you expect Giguere to have a career year after having witnessed him in up close 2007, to say nothing of his 2003 season. Expect Gustavsson to play 40 games and downgrade your expectations for Giguere.
Leafs fans may complain about how the rest of the league hates them, and they wouldn’t be far from the truth, but I contend that no other fanbase wants to see them succeed more than the Senators’ fanbase, if only to relive some of the best rivalry games we’ve ever seen. If not hating the Leafs is part of what makes us the worst fanbase in the league, and less worthy of a team than Kansas City, then so be it.
Frankly I find Kansas City sports fans to be less than stellar, ranking 25th in MLB and 28th in the NFL at only 88% capacity. Are you sure that those particular Southerners would embrace hockey more than football and baseball?
In conclusion, I hope that you will proofread your next contribution and I look forward to your alternative point of view.

Bahahaha. The blogger equivalent of pwnage.
But the whole comment is perfect really.
Dion Phaneuf is going to be as good as captain as he is at reading speeches

This seems like a blatant attempt at trolling. I'm going to close the comments for a little while.
