Total Silence
Adnan's previous FanPost about Anton Volchenkov wanting to stay got the comment section fired up about booing former players. Who deserves to get booed, who doesn't, why or why not. Zdeno Chara gets booed when he returns to Ottawa. Marian Hossa was taunted by Pittsburgh fans at the conclusion of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals in Detroit. Chrish Pronger gets booed by fans in 29 cities.
Whether or not Volchenkov gets booed in his return to Ottawa remains to be seen. However, there is one former Senator whose return to Ottawa this upcoming season on Thursday, December 2 is hotly anticipated for all the wrong reasons. I will make every attempt to get tickets to this game, put in for some vacation time at my job in Winnipeg and attend what could be the most anticipated regular-season Sens game in a long time:
Dany Heatley's Return To Ottawa.
I hope nobody tries to do anything foolish to him before the game. I hope he doesn't get pelted with objects from the stands. I do, however, hope he is shown as much disrespect as he showed us when he demanded to be traded. A demand he made after he felt he wasn't being used in the correct offensive situations in Ottawa, putting up 39 goals, his lowest total as a Senator. A trade to San Jose that freed him from the well-rounded coaching bonds of Cory Clouston, where he could now flourish offensively and put up an astonishing......39 goals.
Maybe Ottawa wasn't the problem.
I know we're all looking forward to booing louder than ever before upon his return, but since we have such a long wait ahead of us, why not take the time and put in the effort to arrange something far more disrespectful than a boo? He's earned it. He does not deserve to be acknowledged. He should be ignored.
Add your thought in the comments about what you think about ignoring Dany Heatley upon his return. Total silence when he takes the ice, total silence if his name is announced in the starting lineup, and, best of all, total silence whenever he touches the puck. It might sound silly, or ridiculous, but there four and a half months to go. We've got to be able to come up with something more than just boos and burning effigies of Dany Heatley dolls.

Save your vacation days for the playoffs next year.
I agree he doesn’t even deserve a reaction from the fans. People will boo, and they should.
But to make a huge deal over it and throw fits would just go to show everyone Sens fans can’t get over it, can’t let it go.
Knowing that the past is past is what separates us from Leaf fans; why wallow in the misery?
Cannot play with 'em, cannot win with 'em, cannot coach with 'em. Cant do it.
Oh, I'll wallow
I’ll boo him good. I’ll make sure I get tickets. After one game, I’ll get over it—and it won’t be as big a deal for me, but on his first game back to Ottawa? You’d better believe I’ll be booing.

I AGREE WITH THIS
His first time back in Ottawa… I am going to boo him as much as I can… UGH I CAN’T STAND HIM. You don’t disrespect our city and team and get away with it. Especially his first time back… I’ll get over it though after that.
I am with you on this Peter!

We should let Neil do the talking
From all reports, Heater banged Neil’s wife and that was why he wanted out. I heard this from someone who lived on Heatley’s floor in his condo. I’m sure there will be retribution from Neil. He doens’t seem like the forgive and forget type.
From all reports?
That’s just a ridiculous rumour. You’d lose count trying to keep track of all the ‘player x slept with player y’s wife’ rumours out there… but they’re probably all B.S.
Still, given Neil’s commitment to the team, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was anxious to welcome Heatley back to Ottawa in his own style… Neil was quite outspoken during the whole fiasco, after all.

Hard to see Heatley dropping the gloves, though
And as much as I loathe him for the way he left, I don’t want to see him get cheapshotted for it. If he gets crushed against the boards, boo hoo, but we all know Heatley doesn’t venture near the boards too often.

But, how will the Heatley inspired total silence be distinguished from the total silence that is usually on display at Scotiabank Place?
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Sens and spent way too much of my student loan money on tickets when we lived in Ottawa, but that building is quiet enough already!
Go ahead and boo the heck outta him, he deserves it, but he probably won’t care that much. Personally, I think the best revenge would be an absolute massacre of the Sharks on the ice.
Like the good ol’ days of 8-0 Leaf romps, the bigger Heatley’s minus is at the end of the night, the better. Bonus points if he can be goaded into stupid penalties that we capitalize on.
Bottom line is, if he leaves with a point or two in his pocket, he wins. Let the fans unleash the boos, so long as he’s not allowed to run roughshod over our questionably retooled defense Now with 30% more offense and 60% less defense!
Warning received and processed.
Didn’t mean any disrespect to anyone. Man I do hate heatley though.
Sorry bros! Gotta play by the rules if you wanna play the game.
No worries
You’re right that Heatley is an asshole. Gah…

Believe it or not, he's only my third most hated Senator

Yeah he's a douche,
but i think everyone here knew that already.
My take-home point from that post was that heatley, once again, was piss poor come playoff time. We were better off without him this year…but everyone already knew that too.
heatley = loser. Case closed.
He was worse than piss poor
He was absolutely invisible. That was why it was so funny to hear him talk about wanting a leadership role with this team. Can you imagine Heatley facing the media after a game 7 loss to the Leafs? I can’t either. He has a ton of talent, but talent isn’t always what makes a leader. He’s nothing but a passenger, and he proves it every time the going gets tough. That’s why he does well in international play… Team Canada is always loaded with talent, so he doesn’t have to create anything himself.
I despise him.

Matt Carker should beat the living daylights out of him
Knowing life, Heatley will be a scratch, word on the streets is that a mob boss said if he played another game in Ottawa, he would be killed. He slept with a mobsters daughter and they game him the summer to get a trade or else.
If he does play in that game, I think at the first TV timeout when he is aknowleged we should boo louder then ever before. During other TV timeouts they should show video messages from fans on the scoreboard.
The sens will win 8-2 I hope, that would be sweet revenge.
Heatley should really be serving a jail term right now as we all know.
