Ottawa Senators prospect Jeff Costello arrested on alcohol-related charges
Ottawa Senators prospect Jeff Costello (drafted fifth round, 146 overall in 2009) was among nine current and former Notre Dame hockey players arrested for consuming alcohol as a minor in Indiana. No word what this means for Costello himself, but the Irish head coach said it would be handled internally.

Costello is 19...
…he should’ve come into Canada for those drinks, it looks like.
Not at all an issue to me. 19 year old having a few drinks at a party in the summer? Sounds like pretty much every other kid his age.

Yeah, I have no problem with it
Figured it was newsworthy, though. And it’s possible that it could affect his standing with the Senators organization, or even his ability to come to Canada is he’s charged, couldn’t it?
Either way, seems like the kind of thing 19-year-olds do all the time. No problem here.

It might not affect ability to come to Canada
depends on if consuming alcohol as a minor is a criminal offence or a regulatory one. In BC, for example, it’s under the liquor control and licensing act, and does not give you a criminal record (which is right — you shouldn’t get a criminal record for that).

A 19 year old college athlete busted for drinking?
Next thing you know we’ll hear of how he tossed out his abstinence ring… he sounds like a bad apple to me. Cut!
You guys can make fun
But I say anyone who sullies the good name of the fighting Irish with alcohol, deserves to be shunned by the rest of the fighting Irish who don’t resort to drinking.

"We're not here to solve the case of the missing scumbag, we're here to nail Costello."
Even the Massachussetts State Police make the South Bend Police look like they come from Pennsylvania.
My favourtie passage from this article:
“Officers were called to the neighborhood at 1:41 a.m. after a report of a dozen people fighting. When they arrived, they heard glass breaking in the back of the house and saw people jumping out of windows and off the roof. After about an hour of trying to control the situation, police started to round up and transport those arrested to the county jail.”
After about an hour of watching people jump out windows and off the roof, then they “started to” round up people?
My question is, how drunk was Costello that he couldn’t have escaped during that time? I’d have downed a couple more beers, rolled up a joint or two, then casually walked away from the house (or at least as casually as one can be, jumping off a roof).
Sounds like that party was off the hook.

Hahahaha...
Now that is rec-worthy. It sounds like he wanted to get busted.

Worth keeping an eye on...
This one incident is no big deal on it’s own and if it teaches Costello to keep out of trouble all the better.
If I was Bryan Murray, I would make a note of this in case it becomes a pattern. But otherwise, a quiet word in Costello’s ear about there being a time and a place for everything should do the trick.
This won't affect his ability to enter the country.
It would only hinder him if the same charge could be laid in Canada.
