As I listened to the latest non-news about Kovalchuk for the umpteenth time yesterday, I was reminded of a time in the early 70s when I was living in Los Angeles. The LA Kings were in the playoffs and they were playing in some Eastern Time Zone city and I had been out for the evening. I resurfaced at 10 PM and could not figure out what the score of the playoff game had been... no radio report... no television report... no internet to consult... and nobody knew....
Compare that to today where our lust for information about hockey can be satisfied at any time of the day from anywhere that has at least a telephone connection (to access the internet)... My... how things have changed.
