Jonathan Cheechoo's contract bought out by Senators
It was expected by everyone, but the day has finally come: Jonathan Cheechoo's contract has been bought out by the Ottawa Senators.
Cheechoo came to the Senators in the Dany Heatley trade, and despite his work ethic was not able to come close to his previous 56 goal season, scoring only five goals before being sent to the AHL's Binghamton Senators.

I'd like to think the bleeding heart Cheechoo fans will fade away now
But that’s probably hoping for too much. Good ridance to this abomination.
Cannot play with 'em, cannot win with 'em, cannot coach with 'em. Cant do it.
I wish him all the best
But I’m glad he won’t be taking up a roster spot in Ottawa anymore.

Ever get the feeling we are on a collision course with reality?

but he was a way better sport that heatley
no doubt about this.
And that's exactly why I wish him the best
Andrew’s making him sound like he’s the worst human alive.

I think Andrew is only referring to his on-ice performance
I haven’t ever heard anyone say anything disparaging about Cheechoo as a person.

I wish Euge had kept him in Bingo so he’d be less of a cap-hit while toiling in obscurity.

Peter pointed out that this option would cost Melynk $7M this year.
When you think about it like that, it’s easy to understand the buyout.

How would it cost him 7M?
the 3.5 for Cheech then the 3.5 for a replacement?
Exactly
