With their sixth round pick, the Ottawa Senators select Mark Stone

The Senators went for another forward with their sixth round pick, grabbing right wing Mark Stone. He played the last two years for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL.
Pros:
- He's 6'3" and weighs 182lbs.
- Is another forward to add to the prospect pool.
- Had 28 points and was +13 in 39 regular season games last season -- solid numbers in the WHL.
- Face it, Mark Stone is a pretty good hockey name (although it would be even better if he was a goalie).
Cons:
- His playoff numbers -- only 2 goals and 8 points in 27 games the last two playoffs.
- Already has a concussion history from being knocked out by Colton Teubert.
- His biography at the Wheat Kings website is just embarrassing:
- Favourite TV show: Two and a Half Men
- Favourite Musical Group: Nickelback
- Favourite team is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Do we not screen our draft picks for stuff like that? His favourite movie is probably something like Blue Collar comedy tour.
Probably.
And after answering the question, he added, “I don’t care who ya are, that’s funny.”

It was Step Brothers, I believe.
He’s a huge Will Ferrell fan, apparently.

I'm in the minority when it comes to my Will Ferrell opinions
But it’s not like a run a no more Will Ferrell in movies campaign. I just don’t watch them.

I like Will Ferrell
I just hate him as the lead role in movies. I prefer him to have smaller roles.
A really good player
I had season tickets for the wheaties this year ad he was one of my favorite players, does it all. Needs to work on his footspeed though, but good pick.
Good to hear!
What kind of player? Seems like a tough guy. Do you think he’d got the goods to make the NHL some day?

Hes a gritty player i do believe that he does have what it takes but like i said definitely needs to work on his footspeed. I think he would’ve gone alot higher but was injured with a broken hand in a fight early in the year, before that injury he was their leading scorer tho. Scored one of the best goals all year in the first game of the year. Definately has alot of skill, lets put it this way i liked him alot more then other first rounders on the wheaties (schenn and glennie) i’m excited about this pick.
That's as promising a report as you can ask for a 6th round pick.

Pretty much
And what was that about names and goalies? That doesn’t matter. Ever seen Jonathan Quick? Not that quick. And don’t get me started on Michael Wall and Kelly Guard.

My expert hometown analysis:
Wheat Kings suck. Mark Stone’s favorites suck. Maybe a waste of a 6th round pick.
My understanding of it...
Stone was caught in a team that had a pretty solid forward depth (Schenn, Glennie, etc), and therefore didn’t get playing time on the top line like he might on other teams, which could explain his numbers.
