Amid all the discussion [of the Washington Capitals' off-season plans], one of the more popular names thrown around is Anton Volchenkov [...], the 28-year-old stay-at-home defenseman who has spent his NHL career to this point with the Ottawa Senators. doesn’t really match their playing style, does he? The Caps play a hugely offensively-slanted game, and Android is a shot blocking machine that probably wouldn’t mesh too well with that kind of style.

But will they want to give anything up for them?
I mean… is anyone really going to compete with them at a price tag of over $5M? And are any situations as friendly: Great young team; lots of Russians; most dynamic player in the league; Stanley Cup contenders. Sounds like an attractive destination!
I suppose a conditional second- or third-round pick might not be much to give up to make sure you get the guy you want, but it’s more than… well… free.
