Silver Nuggets: Michalek could return Tuesday
Here are your Ottawa Senators headlines a day before Daniel Alfredsson's 1000th NHL game:
- Looks like Milan Michalek could be back tomorrow; lines from practice this morning were Foligno-Fisher-Kovalev; Regin-Spezza-Alfredsson, Ruutu-Kelly-Neil, Michalek-Cullen-Shannon. That would leave Bobby Butler, Jesse Winchester, and Shean Donovan as healthy scratches. (Twitter)
- Some stuff commemorating Alfie's 1000th game, from the Citizen: He might stay in Ottawa when he retires, he's respected by people around the league, and his case for the Hall of Fame.
- GM Bryan Murray thinks Alfie's going to play until he's 40. (Sun)
- Nick Foligno is having a hard time getting back into the rhythm. (Citizen)
- Patrick Wiercioch's getting a taste of the NHL behind the scenes, even if not on the ice. (Sun)
- Sens prospect Corey Cowick and his Ottawa 67's took a 2-1 series lead over St. Mike's last night. (Citizen)

agreed
In theory, they could all skate circles around any Florida player, in theory. In theory, communism works. In practice, michalek overakates the Puck, in practice…

Did you?

Your selective quoting hurts my heart, Darren.

Linking stuff is a pain in the ass at work so you’ll just have to copy and paste.

I browsed these comments quickly
and now I think you probably have quoted every possible line possibility.
Did you call Alfie-Butler-Kelly? If not, I did!
Wouldn't that be Butler-Kelly-Alfie?
I should delete your comment so I can take credit for this line combo next year!

Also, Mark....
Peter Mueller got concussed last night. Better you hear it from me now than from someone else later.

I was with you on that Mueller bandwagon. He would have been a great pickup, though since it took Wolski to get him I doubt Murray would have had the stones to move the type of player required to acquire him.
Yeah, I was surprised that Wolski was the asking price
I had read rumors that he could be acquired for a lot less. I really felt that Lee and Kelly would have been enough. Would I have been happy if Murray had to give up someone like Foligno to get him? Absolutely not.
Besides, we can always tender him an offer sheet!

Alfie for the Hall
I think this article really failed to hit on was his status in his generation of Swedish players. It’s pretty much him, Sundin, Lidstrom and Forsberg who led Sweden to great success internationally. I couldn’t find a total, but there aren’t that many Swedes in the Hall, possibly only Salming. The fact he was a late draft pick, played for the same team his whole career and really is one of the most complete players in the league will bode well for him. Plus the expansion team Hall of Famer factor has to appeal to the Hall as well.
I'm not sure if anyone follows the TSN power rankings,
But I’m sick of the rather severe lack of respect for the Senators. Behind the Red Wings? Alright, they’ve been hot lately. Behind the Avs? Even though they’re choking away a playoff spot? Hmmm. Behind the fucking Habs, Bruins and Rangers? Unacceptable.
Nope, I don't care about power rankings at all
Do they affect Ottawa’s playoff seed? Do they affect anything at all? When they start to affect the season, I’ll start caring. In the meantime they’re just the equivalent of “my dad can beat up your dad.”

They might be positive, even
Whiteboard material, you know? “They think we suck, we’ll show them!”

They also ranked Ottawa 24th overall heading into the season
Apparently they’re terrible prognosticators.

Great the only time I see the Sens live
It’s a game where the Sens don’t care and the Cats want to lose. That and I still don’t have anyone to go with, damn it!
Do you want to go with my grandparents?
They might still be in Florida. They also might be Leafs fans.
Better than going alone though, right!?
