- Some recaps from last night's win: Pensburgh, CBC, Citizen, Sun, AP, Toronto Star, Sporting News.
- According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Brian Elliott was "unflappable" in his debut. I wouldn't say that, but okay. (Post-Gazette)
- "I hate every one of them," Matt Carkner said of the Penguins. Hey, me too! (Sun)

Murray: Michalek tore ACL. Will require surgery. Out for season.

ACTUALLY, advanced metrics show that that wasn't "premature".

I don't know what that is.
Litre is French for give me some fucking cola before I break vous fucking lips!
God damn it, how many guys are going to lose?
Silver Seven - The Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators Blogs
NOOOOO!
I mean another year where I have to defend Michalek that he’s on the cusp of becoming an elite player and that he can produce in the playoffs? Gasp.
If only Sj could lose to Colorado that would help….oh wait, they did last night.

I just realized I wrote Foligno-Fisher-Foligno instead of Foligno-Fisher-Cullen
Which makes this beyond awesome.

Shame about Michalek.
He’s super-fast, and requires attention from good D-men.
You could say the latter about Kovalev, but not the former.
MACH 9 GONE?!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH FUCK!
He's doing decent in Minnesota, though
Silver Seven - The Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators Blogs
He did that a lot in Chicago (he rarely ever played and when he did...)
Until is contract year and then he became stealth. Kronwall hit him. Scrambled his brains. Didn’t get his overpriced deal. Pulled a temper tantrum and went to Minnesota. Whined on twitter and became a bigger twit himself.

LOL, eff havlat!
we got HAD ourselves a new mach 9…
as well as Chris Kelly and Ruutu
seems like Pittsburgh are also trying to outhit us and grind us down…and are failing miserably.
"I hate every one of them"
Knowing Matt this is the actual truth.
He’s hated that organization since he left and would love nothing more than to stick it to them. A lot of broken promises went on there.

Did he not tear the ACL in the Atlanta game when he wraped it around the goalpost?
I was under the impression it was torn since then and when he came back he was wearing a knee brace
Cannot play with 'em, cannot win with 'em, cannot coach with 'em. Cant do it.
As I understand it, it was only partially torn then. He was able to rehab it (he had plenty of speed last night) but the additional stress caused it to completely tear, which isn’t an injury you can play through

Sounds like Shannon will fill into the lineup
How does everyone feel about this? Would you prefer Cheechoo or Donovan instead?
Silver Seven: the Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators blogs.
if shannon played like he did when he filled alfie's spot
when alfie was injured for awhile, the team can consider this a blessing in disguise.
but he caught the kovy bug and started to play bi-polar.
Depends where they ask him to play
As I understand it, Foligno will move up to play in Michalek’s spot, and Shannon will play fourth line with Winchester and Z. Smith. With that in mind, Donovan would have been better; keep that fourth line gritty and physical.

Man I would love to see Donovan in the lineup...
That guy plays with all his heart and destroys people…although I do like Shannons speed…decisions…..
I see what Donovan brings in terms of a physical, playoff-style game
But in my opinion matchups and situations are overated, you always go with the better player. Shannon should suit up
Cannot play with 'em, cannot win with 'em, cannot coach with 'em. Cant do it.
Grit, character and leadership should not be overlooked. This man sets an example and sets the bar for the rest of the team...
although I am afraid you are right. The old soldier will be sidelined…
Definitely Chum

Shannon
Hopefully, he can throw some body checks like the one that put the Coach on his ass in practice a few weeks back.
the reason campoli is so beneficial to our team is because
he keeps brian lee in the pressbox. lee is good for at least one guaranteed goal against each game, usually more. have we ever had a shutout with lee in the lineup? look that up.
Just because:

I got on a roll with the 2008’s. Didn’t dawn on me that after December comes a new year

I agree. Put him on the 4th line. He grinds it out and plays with heart. This series needs that from our bottom lines
I wonder if Cheech has cleared waivers yet. I know it takes 24 hours.
Who watched the WSH vs MTL game?
What an awesome way to finish for MTL. Great game for MTL. Kept Ovenchkin in check. Having PENS and CAPS out first round would be so great.
I didnt watch it as I am busy at work...
but I did hear that Ovechkin was shotless. I still cannot think that its only a matter of time before the leagues top offence hits gear and smokes Montreal. I think he will be a big factor in Game 2. That’s just what I think but…
I think he will be a non-factor in the rest of the series. MTL will sweep.
Got to keep the logic consistent, amirite?
by Mike Hurley on Apr 16, 2010 12:18 AM EDT up reply actions
Apparently Ovi's special trainer/doctor guy flew in from Russia a couple days ago
Pierre kept saying that the dude only flies in when Ovechkin is hurt, and that he could tell from his play that he wasn’t at 100%.
Ovechkin looked fine to me, he just had two Montreal guys hanging off him the whole game.
Could this be a sign that Ottawa should not acquire eastern european players? Yashin, Hossa and Havlat would support that theory…

There’s an exception to every rule!
But, hey, don’t get me wrong. I’m only kidding. Also a slight jab at Don Cherry.
To base your choice of players by nationality is wrong (though i’m sure we all have a Canadian bias, just because we want to see our brethren realize the nationwide dream of winning a Cup).
