Game 68: Ottawa Senators @ Calgary Flames

Ottawa Senators at Calgary Flames, Mar 11, 2010 9:30 PM EST

The Western road trip continues as the Ottawa Senators meet the Calgary Flames, who are currently on a three-game win streak. The Senators have not won a game in Calgary since January 9, 2003, although they did manage to beat the Flames in Ottawa earlier this season. The Flames are bound to be hungry, as they are still sitting in 8th place, just holding onto the last playoff position in the Western Conference.

Brian Elliott will start in net for the Senators. Miikka Kiprusoff starts for the Flames (I know, I was hoping for Toskala, too).

Be sure to join in on the fun in the comments during the game!

Wouldn't you know it...

Norm Macdonald, one of my idols, is coming to Victoria next week, but it’s the same night that I have to pick up my girlfriend from the airport. it MIGHT be possible to make both, but it seems tight.

I don’t think the girlfriend will accept “was watching stand up comedy” as an excuse for being late. I also don’t have a car, which makes the pick up hard to coordinate.

Haha.

Cab is going to be like 50 bucks. She’s a student too. We’re both dirt poor.

Ignore the fact that Norm will cost me 50 bucks too, heh.

My predictions are always wrong.

I was going to put $50 on the US to win the gold medal. Because if I did I was certain that Canada would win due to my poor betting skills. I didn’t have time because it aired at 7am and I couldn’t be bothered at that time but we won anyways!

and we won. everything worked out that day. i originally went to work but i was sick. so sick my boss sent me home, coincidentally the game was on live! i was ecstatic. when the US equalised i threw up everywhere (not really, but i was close). Anyways crosby scoring the winner was magical. It was like it unfolded from a script.

Hey out of curiosity what speed are your internet connections in Canada?

In Aus we just got ADSL 2. I don’t even think they have it where I live (just moved in with my gf) so I will be on ADSL 1.5

Silver Seven - The Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators Blogs

by Mark Parisi on Mar 11, 2010 9:02 PM EST up reply actions

thanks. have seen and done this before

im at work. i work for the NSW govt. my speed is 7.62Mbits. Not bad considering residential is only 2Mbits. Now makes me wonder why when I stream from ATDHE it is shit and choppy. Could be too many ppl on the server. There are not many on the server atm, as everyone is at lunch.

by sens_24 on Mar 11, 2010 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

I think my streaming does get affected

by the amount of people on the server. Im watching the Edm game and its running fine but not many people here atm.

by sens_24 on Mar 11, 2010 9:09 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, there's no doubt

At work, everyone’s sharing the same bandwidth. My company IP blocks any kind of streaming website they find for that reason. Our sales reps use VOIP, so they can’t be dropping calls because I’m trying to stream hockey.

Residential neighborhoods are similar, because everyone still shares bandwidth, but on DSL, you’re on your own private line; the limitations become the quality of your line and the distance to the switch.

I don't believe whales should be hunted anymore

I really believe that if you are hunting things for trophies, you should only be allowed to use a knife. If you can kill it with a knife, you can keep it as a trophy.

If you are going to kill it, eat it, and use the rest, you can use other weapons.

by sens_24 on Mar 11, 2010 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

I don't understand why Japan thinks they're exempt

Doesn’t make sense to me. Then again, I think a commercial whale hunt could be re-instituted if it was done properly, but you know that Japanese whalers would just push the envelope even further. Still, if done well, it could help tuna populations start to come back.

where he talks about how he hates people trying to justify eating meat. It’s wrong. He knows it’s wrong. He simply doesn’t care. It doesn’t mean he’s going to justify it.

Clubbing seals isn't for population, it's for commerce

But the difference is, like you say, the seal populations that are hunted aren’t endangered, while most whale populations are unstable at best.
