Butler re-assigned back to Binghamton
After a few games up with the Senators, Bobby Butler has been re-assigned to the AHL Binghamton Senators. I'm still unsure as to what was expected from him in Ottawa, but now he'll get the opportunity to continue developing his game in the AHL.

twas a short NHL exposure.
he had some decent puck presence considering which line he was playing on. all in all, the assignment was just a mere experience for him.
All I have to say is

This was not a callup that made sense to me, so I guess it's not surprising that it ends this way either
Silver Seven - The Daniel Alfredsson of Ottawa Senators Blogs
It made sense to me for the first two games. Everything after that wasn't in the realm of logic.
Once it was clear he wasn’t going to get reasonable ice time, there was no reason to keep him in the lineup over, say, Regin. If he was a defenceman and it was Brian Lee that he was keeping out of the lineup, that’s a whole different story. But he’s not a defenceman, and the blood of Matt Carkner is more effective than Lee. So why keep him up for more than two games?

Sucks he didn't get his first NHL point
That’s going to hurt him for a while.

Speaking of Floatalev
LeBrun mentioned on The Hot Stove that the Blues have called about him. Supposedly, the rumour is Boyes for Kovalev. Not sure about the extras though. Don`t know if I would want that, as Boyes has 2 more years on his contract at $4 million. He plays centre or wing, so having him beside Spezza could be good though.
Wait, seriously?
The possibility of acquiring Boyes for Kovalev seems far too good to be true, but even if it is just a rumour and probably not true, it’s pretty fun to think about. After this year, Boyes has just one year at a $4M cap hit; definitely manageable, and it would also be a contract year for extra motivation.

Way too good to be true
A 28 year old former 40 goal man in a contract year, at 1 million less than we pay Kovalev?
Especially when you look at our system, which is devoid of scoring wingers, and you look at the free agent pool, and there is no one (other than Parise, whom I don’t expect to get)

Boyes has been brutally bad the last couple seasons

28 years old, contract year?
I’ll take that chance.

Probably our 2nd
I’d be more comfortable dealing Kovalev for a 2nd or a 3rd at the deadline.

Okay but except Kovalev has more points than Boyes
And Kovalev had more points than Boyes last year too. Not to mention his cap hit will keep us from making a serious pitch for Semin.
Aside from his passport, I can’t see why we would want him.

Would take that deal in a heartbeat. A young right winger for Kovy does definitely too good to be true.
