Z. Smith assigned to Binghamton
His goals weren't enough to keep Zack Smith in the lineup now that Milan Michalek appears ready to return to the lineup after giving his knee a few days to recover. Cap constraints lead me to believe that Z. Smith is going to become very familiar with the roads from Ottawa to Binghamton and back.

Happiest person aside from Michalek
Alfredsson! No more playing with Foligno!
Sens fan in Toronto since 2000. (Thank you Martin Havlat).
I hope Milan is actually ready
I’m sick of seeing players return too soon
Why would Winchester stay over Smith? Is Winchester on a one way deal? If yes, that is a mistake by Brian.
Brian Burke would

But there is still real money on that contract
Let’s be honest, the difference between Winchester and Z. Smith is negligible. Winchester is more disciplined and seems to take orders well from the coach, while Z. Smith is a better shit-disturber. But really, there is so little to distinguish them in terms of on-ice production that there’s no sense sending Winchester, who would still be getting paid $750k in the minors, instead of Z. Smith, who would be making his $62.5k AHL salary down there.
Even if neither instance has them counting against the cap, it’s still money coming out of Melnyk’s wallet.

I disagree that the difference is not significant. Smith has proved he can put it in the net, while Winchester has proved he can not. It seems like whenever Smith comes up he makes his presence felt. Whenever Winchester is asked to do anything aside from being a fourth line centre he faulters. Don’t sight his PK time. He always looks like a deer in the headlights on the PK
