From popular demand, I've decided to call up a friend and ask him how David Rundblad is doing with Skelleftea this season, stats wise. I can tell you all though that in the Swedish Elite League stats don't reflect the play much, as exmeplified by Rundblad's rookie season in the Junior League, where he got 0 goals and 21 assists in 29 games. Anyways, according to my friend (who by the way is a stats geek, never really got the reason why), David has 3 goals, 6 assists meaning 9 points in 10 games.
In the first game of the new hockey season, Skelleftea played Brynas IF, the team everyone expects to win the SEL Crown this season. Senators' prospects Jakob Silfverberg and Emil Sandin play for the team, Sandin drafted in 2008 and Silfverberg in 2009. It was the first game of the season, so a bit of jitters for both. What I really like about Jakob is that he controls the play most of the time. He doesn't let the opposition take it to him, and if he wants to play in North America next season, his best ability will be his first pass. I believe he got an assist in that game on the game winning goal, as Brynas won 3-1. Sandin on the other hand had 2 penalties and seemed lost out there, but I believe he's a project and some flashes of speed showed me there's something there.
Skelleftea plays HV71, home of Andre Petersson on Saturday, and I'll be there. I likely won't be posting until Monday, so till then, GO SENS! KICK SOME HURRICANE ASS!!!
