Silver Nuggets: Leclaire to start, WJC reflections

It's another game day for the Ottawa Senators, tonight they head to Washington to take on the Capitals. A  couple of links heading into the game:

  • Pascal Leclaire gets the start in net tonight, but there are no other changes. (Twitter)
  • Prediction panel for tonight's game, including my call: Capitals 4, Senators 2. (Citizen)
  • Binghamton Senators forward and enforcer Cody Bass was suspended six games for leaving the bench on Saturday against the Hershey Bears. (Sharp)
  • Senators fans and brass are probably a little nervous with Jared Cowen's lacklustre performance at the World Junior Championships, but on the bright side, Andre Petersson (8G, 3A) and Jakob Silfverberg (3G, 2A) led the Swedes to a bronze medal. With Daniel Alfredsson, Erik Karlsson, and Robin Lehner as further proof, maybe we should change our drafting strategy from 'best player available' to 'best Swede available'. (Sens website)
  • SenSay takes a look at some of the names who might be available to boost our defence corps. I think a lot of the names he mentions may not be available in actuality, but there's little doubt our defence is the weak spot right now. (SenSay)

Caps fan here...

Hi there! I dropped by to see what was shaking over here in Sensville, and didn’t find much. :-( I’m totally looking forward to the game tonight, though. I visited your arena last January, and boy-oh-BOY was it cold up there, or WHAT? WOW! I about froze my butt off, and the windshield washer fluid did freeze in my car. Made for some really icky driving conditions, too. But I had a great time, even though the Canadian anthem done half in French did throw me for a loop. ;-)

I need a snappy signature...

Welcome to the joint

We’re mostly pretty quiet because of our goaltending inadequacies, although our goalies look like all-stars compared to our bottom-four defencemen.

Oh yeah, and next time you head to Ottawa in the winter, pick up some winter or all-season washer fluid. An absolute must for winter driving up here.

Theodore + Leclaire = take the plus tonight

Cannot play with 'em, cannot win with 'em, cannot coach with 'em. Cant do it.
