Senators Make More Cuts
The Ottawa Senators have assigned six players back to Binghamton, and two to their OHL teams.
Back to Binghamton are Cody Bass, Andy Chiodo, Ryan Keller, Geoff Kinrade, Jeremy Yablonski, and Ilya Zubov. Back to the OHL are Robin Lehner (to Sault St. Marie Greyhounds) and Brett Parnham (to Oshawa Generals).
Names that stand out on this list are Cody Bass, who seems to have been a favourite to make the team every year, and Ilya Zubov, who has put up good numbers in the AHL and showed some good anticipation in his preseason games.
Also, though Lehner got cut, it's not for a poor showing - it's simply that Ottawa is, for the first time in years, fully stocked in goal, both at the NHL and AHL level. Lehner had tremendous performances at both the rookie camp and the preseason, and it will be exciting to see how he performs in the OHL this season.

Surprised about Zubov
But I guess I shouldn’t be. Regin has looked much better so far, and there’s not going to be room for both of them.
Regin’s apparently in tonight, because Cloo-Cloo wants to get a better look at him.

i’m disappointed to see potential regulars like bass and zubov head back down.
but at the same time i’m thrilled to have them back down here.
You’ve seen a lot more of Zubov in Bingo than we have. How ready is he really? I’ve always felt like he just doesn’t quite have “it,” like Hamel.
Offensivly dominant; proven to be a forechecker and is throw his body around here and there.
i think zubov should see a good amount of time in ottawa. in binghamton, he is dependable is contribute in any situations. he could be a trustworthy roleplayer in ottawa in my opinion. he has scoring ability, and he has the ability to use his size to his advantage.
down here, him and regin were extremely comparable, but zubov edged regin offensively last year. don’t get me wrong, regin did impress me at times, he can score too, but zubov was always to go to guy along with smith.
Man, wouldn’t it be awesome if Cheechoo-Shannon-Kovalev works out? The thought of Foligno-Regin-Fisher as a third line excites me a great deal.
clouston has faith in this potential line. and we have faith in clouston.
i’m excited to see if there really is chemistry there.
Probably not. But he’s been outplayed by Smith, Regin, and Hennessy in camp. Bass had a good fight, yeah, but there’s just not a place for him on our NHL roster right now. Maybe if one of the depth forwards is dealt, but not before then.

he's ideal for the 4th line in ottawa.
-Like Neil, he’s always willing to drop the gloves.
-Unlike Neil, Bass is young, posseses a bit of potential left, and plays for a reasonable price.
hmm…
