Mike Sillinger retires, remains awesome

Mike Sillinger's 18-year, 12-team career has come to an end on a bit of a low note, but don't let that fool you: He's still awesome. The Ottawa Senators were lucky enough to be one of the 12 teams Sillinger laced up his skates for--even if it was only for 13 regular season and four playoff games, he was still awesome.

I don't remember a single game Sillinger played as an Ottawa Senator. But I do remember one afternoon, when I was working during an autograph session with the organization, when Sillinger came to sign some posters and other objects, he was one of the nicest and funniest guys on the team. He and Shawn McEachern were hilarious, and I wish Sillinger all the best in his retirement. It's tough he can't go out on his own terms, but that's the way it goes.
