Spezza Invited to Team Canada Olympic Camp
After being snubbed from the original list of invitees, Jason Spezza has been named to the Team Canada orientation camp roster. Two spots were freed up after both Ryan Getzlaf and Joe Sakic declined to attend. Spezza joins fellow Ottawa Senator Dany Heatley, who was invited to the camp back in July.
The camp runs from August 24-27 in Calgary, and the lineup is expected to be finalized in December.
Obviously, this is great news for Jason. Even though his stats declined last season, his improved attention to defence was very noticeable. He'll have a tough time cracking the roster, though, as Canada has arguably the deepest pool of centremen in the world right now - name another country where Marc Savard would not be invited to this camp, even after two spots open up.

Could be an interesting reunion
If Heatley is traded and both make the team, it’ll be interesting if they play of the same line, and if they rekindle the same chemistry after taking on different roles with their respective new teams.
