Ottawa has been informed some time ago that the Oilers are no longer involved in any trade participation for Dany Heatley.

So...

Will he be traded?

WHY ISN’T THIS NIGHTMARE OVER YET?!?!

Seriously, this back-and-forth is as frustrating as the Emery/Gerber goaltending controversy of 2007-08. I think it’s getting to the point where I don’t care what the outcome is, as long as there is an outcome in one direction or the other.

CRAP.

The Oilers were the only reported serious trade partner. One has to believe that Heatley will not be traded prior to the start of camp now. If he’s going to get moved, maybe it will be on deadline day in some blockbuster deal.

It’s even harder to move contracts like this one mid-season than it is during the off-season, though.

It sucks to think this team will start yet another season with a huge distraction.

Yeah, the Citizen is saying neither side wants him to show up to camp, but I don’t see any other options with no other interested trading partners. .

Heatley will be a Senator

he is a “victim” of his own lucrative contract …

That has seemed likely since his bonus took effect...

The real question now is how much more of his contract does he play out in Ottawa? Just because he’s not getting traded right away doesn’t mean he won’t be moved at some point. If the Kings come calling at the deadline with some nice offer, does Murray take it? Would Heatley take it? What if the Sens are looking like contenders this year and he’s back scoring goals? Does he say, “Just kidding! I don’t want to be traded after all?”

Whoever leaked his trade demands has created a gigantic mess.
