Bell Receiving Interest from KHL
According to the Ottawa Sun, two teams have contacted Brendan Bell's representation in hopes of sending Bell to Russia to play in the KHL. Bell, who becomes a restricted free agent on July 1, has not received any formal offers at this time. Being an Ottawa native, Bell has expressed that he wishes to stay within the Senators organization. Bell played 53 games with the big club this season, spending 15 games down in Binghamton.
The big question is whether there will be room for Bell, considering the Sens already have eight defensemen under contract who will be fighting for the six spots on the blueline next season (Phillips, Volchenkov, Kuba, Smith, Campoli, Karlsson, Picard, Lee).

Re-sign him conditionally...
As long as he signs a two-way contract, because I don’t see him cracking the lineup as a full-time NHLer considering the players we’ve already got here.
To be honest, I would be so hesitant to go to Russia if I was a North American player… the money might be good at first, but that’s assuming you get paid properly. Even aside from that, though (and this may be hypocritical to say, considering Russian and European players have to deal with it the other way), but the cultural differences and linguistic barriers are significant. Plus there’s the fact that KHLers don’t have the same accomodations as NHLers… and it seems in some cities it’s worse than AHLers.
