Finland, USA win World Championship openers
Finland defeated Norway 5-0 and the United States defeated Latvia 4-2 on Saturday morning to begin the 2009 IIHF World Championships. Jarkko Ruutu, assistant captain for the Finnish team, had one assist and four penalty minutes in their victory. Neither Ryan Shannon nor Nick Foligno, both representing the USA, had any points, but each recorded one shot on goal in their victory.
