Leafs take Gerber off waivers, Bell clears
Have fun with this one, Leafs fans. Hey, if you're trying to tank the season to get a good draft pick, maybe this was a good move.
The Toronto Maple Leafs claimed Martin Gerber off the re-entry waiver wire today, meaning the Sens will save about half of what remains of his contract this season, and the Leafs have become stronger competition in the John Tavares race.
Apparently Toronto is set up to let Vesa Toskala take the rest of the year to heal whatever injuries he's got, and run with Gerber and Justin Pogge for the rest of the season.
It seemed to take forever, but the Martin Gerber chapter in Senators' goaltending history has finally come to a close. So begins the Pascal Leclaire chapter.
UPDATED: And, according to Michael Sharp, Brendan Bell has cleared waivers. This is good news for the Binghamton Senators, who will likely receive Bell to help them with their race to the playoffs.

I remember when I used to be on Team Gerber
But then he blew second, third, and fourth chances.

Pedantic...
Sorry to have to correct you but it’s only half of the remaining salary that the Leafs are taking.

I know, I said that… “Sens will save about half of what remains of his contract this season”.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes, though.

Toronto is shopping Gerber?
If they can trade him for something, this whole things is bogus.

Apparently they were shopping him around.
I don’t know how that would have worked.

I wish we got a second rounder instead.
