The New Jersey Devils traded Anssi Salmela to the Atlanta Thrashers for Niclas Havelid today.

From a Senators' perspective, this bodes fairly well. Havelid is not as valuable as Filip Kuba should be on the market, and the Thrashers received a fairly young and fairly promising defenceman (possibly a top-four in the near future). He was having a strong year in the AHL after moving to North America from Finland for this season.
