Game 66: Sens v. Bolts

Tampa Bay Lightning at Ottawa Senators, Mar 11, 2009 7:00 PM EDT

Next Game

Tampa Bay Lightning
@ Ottawa Senators

Wednesday, Mar 11, 2009, 7:00 PM EDT
Scotiabank Place

Complete Coverage >

The Battle of the 1992-93 Expansion Teams! What an epic battle tonight will be. I don't know how to hype this game. It's on TSN, at least, so we should all be able to watch it (at least those of us in Canada; sorry, Seattle contingent but you can likely find it online).

And according to the Ottawa Sun, neither Chris Neil nor Filip Kuba will be ready to play tonight. It was thought that Neil might return from his injury, but not tonight, and Kuba's still got the flu.

In-game discussion starts... well, pre-game can start now, in-game at 7:00 p.m. EST!

Damn only getting CBC.

They never have anything on worth watching except fantastic Olympic coverage and 22 minutes. And sometimes hockey. And curling! And some other stuff.

Don't look for Olympics on CBC in 2010

CBC lost the bid, so CTV/TSN are getting it, instead. But hey, at least CBC Sports has some Raptors games now…

Amazing that he's 10-4-3.

I don’t know why he takes so much shit.

by PeterR on Mar 11, 2009 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He plays for the Sens.

That’s about it really. Kid never stood a chance.

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Touché

I’m hoping he doesn’t get shipped off. Bingo would be better because he’d get plenty of ice time, but I don’t know why he’d want to do that after a half year in the NHL. I don’t know how good two seasons as backup will be for him, though.

Although I guess Leclaire could just get injured over and over again… maybe not that unlikely.

The eye gouging, that is

I assume the bleeding is incidental

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yep.

Double minor + 10min misconduct I believe.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 7:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Correction, it might not have been a double minor for that.

There were 2 penalties called for roughing ruutu, but they were apparently called on two different players, but both served by Arty, who also got the game misconduct.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 7:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What's wrong with this Artyukhin guy?

Must have had a bad day. He sure doesn’t look like a fighter; no facial scars, nose a lot prettier than Donovan’s…

by PeterR on Mar 11, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

"Sneaky little shot from Spezza"

Damn those sneaky whittled sticks!

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 7:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

13 seconds to be exact.

Almost as long as some other activities…

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wait...

Didn’t this exact thing happen a couple games ago?

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hay guys

Late to the thread. Everyone knows how to watch this game online that doesn’t have coverage, right?

Also, I can’t believe Kelly scored

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 8:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nope

I’m inept

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The aftermath would have been funny.

But it’s not like you would have live-commented it.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That...

that doesn’t really make sense.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Probably not, actually.

Now, if I was there now…

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You were at that game?

You must be a delusional and insane drunkard now

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hey, lads

Good evening from wintry Palm Beach County. The northern part.

How it be going against the Bolts?

by Donny Rivette on Mar 11, 2009 8:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You still here Whale?

I’m rooting for the Panthers to make the playoffs. It’s going to be close

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Way to just fall over, Brian.

That’s the quality defense I’ve come to expect.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 8:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

God...

This is one of those “somebody has to win” kind of games

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Will the Sens turn into the modern day Lightning?

The same pattern is there for the Sens when looking at Tampa’s team the following years after their Cup appearance

All we need is Olaf Kolzig

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

God damn it!

Pass the puck to the guys in the black jerseys!

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Injustice!

That penalty was Brendan Bellesque

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

and pucks.

He loves hitting them really hard. Direction be damned.

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And boards with pucks.

But not nets with pucks. Too cliché.

by PeterR on Mar 11, 2009 10:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That music reminds me

that my time would’ve been better spent watching “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia”

Or anything really

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

GIGGLES!!!!

AHH SHIT, booooo, fuck you refs!

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Of course...

Fuck this period.

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Honestly

It’s a fun sport to play. Don’t knock it until you try it

One of the few drinking sports left

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I do too

Canada > the South

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have a guest suite at my condo complex

$35 a night max 14 days. Just give notice

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Booked during Olympics yet?

How many people can sleep there?

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ah well.

Still, that’s a good deal. I may hit you up for that in the future. I like taking random trips up.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hahaha,

that’s like the same price as a hostel! Holy shit! How many people can you fit in it?

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ah, that's too bad. 4 is the better group size.

Still though, $35 CAD split in half? That’s about $13 US per person

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Pretty central location too

Friends fly in and stay all the time. They don’t even have to see me if they don’t want to

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Alright Nick, we're moving into Tony's guest suite.

Every 15th day, we’ll just sleep in the park.

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

enjoy

tomorrow’s game, I’ll be away but come back to post the Spartan in the thread after they win

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 10:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If you plan it right

throw in an M’s game too. I go to about 1 a month

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Oh shit

I thought you were in California

by Tony S on Mar 11, 2009 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

by ningwers on Mar 11, 2009 9:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

when tsn showed her cheering after his goal, you could read her lips saying “MY BOY!”

at least, that’s what it looked like she said.

by DarrenM on Mar 11, 2009 9:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Me too.

He’s pretty religious, and they’re not married.

I’m just saying.

by PeterR on Mar 11, 2009 10:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

8th place is on pace for 93 points

We only need 29 of a possible 32 for sweet sweet bliss!

by Jeff Sullivan on Mar 11, 2009 9:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We probably won't make it

but it says a lot about their improvement that we’re even talking about it

With LeClaire instead of the Gerber/Auld mess next year and hopefully another D-man…

by Matthew on Mar 11, 2009 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I just read the entire comment thread

And some of your comments/conversations are hilarious.

Why do we have to be playing so well now, when losing is in the club’s best long term interest? The hockey gods definitely hate us. Damn you Spezz and your unsafe hockey sticks! You brought this upon us!
